Hollywood's dynamic talent, Glen Powell, is gearing up for a significant role in Paramount Pictures' upcoming reboot of "The Running Man," with acclaimed director Edgar Wright at the helm. The project, announced by Paramount, has already stirred excitement, with Wright set to direct and produce alongside his long-time collaborator Nira Park and Hollywood heavyweight Simon Kinberg.

George Linder joins the team as executive producer, adding to the film's promising creative force. "The Running Man," originally penned by Stephen King under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, and later transformed into a cult classic film in 1987 featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is set for a modern reimagining.

The narrative thrusts readers into a dystopian America of 2025, weaving a gripping tale of Ben Richards, a man driven by desperation to participate in a deadly game show to secure funds for his daughter's life-saving treatment.

This adrenaline-fueled storyline promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats as Richards evades skilled hunters in a televised chase.

Powell's Rising Star

Powell, whose star has been on a rapid ascent following his role opposite Sydney Sweeney in Sony's romantic comedy hit "Anyone But You," which raked in over $200 million globally, is poised to bring a fresh intensity to the iconic story.

His forthcoming ventures include the action-comedy "Hitman," under the direction of Oscar-nominee Richard Linklater, showcasing Powell's versatility as he steps into the roles of co-writer and co-producer. The film is slated for a theatrical release on May 24, 2024, before hitting Netflix on June 7.

Furthermore, Powell is set to dazzle audiences in Universal's eagerly awaited "Twisters," directed by Lee Isaac Chung. This film, a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster "Twister," featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones alongside Powell, is scheduled for a July 19, 2024, release.

Represented by CAA, Powell's burgeoning career and his latest endeavor in "The Running Man" reboot are a testament to his dynamic range and Hollywood's ongoing fascination with dystopian narratives. As Powell steps into this challenging role, his trajectory suggests a thrilling addition to the cinematic landscape, reinforcing his position as one of Hollywood's most versatile and compelling actors.
