In a recent development in the ongoing legal battle between Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Pitt has leveled accusations of hypocrisy at Jolie. He asserts that her criticism of his proposal to include a non-disparagement clause in the sale of their jointly owned Miraval vineyard is contradictory, given her own use of similar agreements.

The controversy stems from Jolie's decision to abandon the sale of her share in the vineyard to Pitt, a deal reportedly valued at $54 million, due to the inclusion of a clause she deemed an attempt by Pitt to exert control over her post their split.

This legal skirmish has now taken a more complicated turn with Pitt's recent court filings. In these documents, submitted to the LA Superior Court, Pitt's legal team contends that Jolie's objection to the non-disparagement clause — a standard agreement designed to prevent parties from speaking negatively about each other or the business — is merely a facade to justify her selling her $64 million stake in the winery to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler in 2021.

The filings suggest that Jolie's actions represent a betrayal, highlighting her request for Pitt to sign a similar, albeit broader, non-disclosure agreement (NDA) during their divorce settlement discussions.

Miraval Estate Dispute

Pitt's attorneys argue that revealing Jolie's own use of NDAs, particularly with her staff, could significantly undermine her stance.

They assert that if Jolie has indeed required NDAs that cover personal observations within her home, including interactions with her children and Pitt, it would question the sincerity of her objections to the clause Pitt proposed.

Adding to the complexity, Jolie has accused Pitt of physical and emotional abuse towards her and their children, a claim that predates an alleged incident on a 2016 flight, which she cites as pivotal in their marital dissolution.

Her legal team claims to possess evidence supporting these allegations, including testimonies and documents, which they argue will expose Pitt's attempts to mask his behavior. Amid these serious accusations, Pitt's legal representatives maintain that Jolie's sale of her share to Shefler was an underhanded move designed to harm Pitt financially and personally.

This claim is part of a larger narrative of betrayal and legal wrangling over the Miraval estate, a property the former couple purchased in 2011 for approximately $60 million, which has since become a focal point in their bitter divorce and custody battle.
