Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt recently marked a significant milestone with their latest film endeavor, "The Fall Guy," which saw stunt driver Logan Holladay set a new Guinness World Record for the most car cannon rolls in a cinematic stunt.

This achievement was celebrated during a special Los Angeles screening, where the film's leading duo presented Holladay with his record-breaking accolade. Directed by David Leitch and based on the 1980s CBS television series, "The Fall Guy" is a thrilling homage to the world of stunt performers, filled with explosive action sequences, high-octane car chases, and breathtaking falls.

The film's dedication to authentic stunt work is highlighted by Holladay's record-setting performance, where he executed an impressive eight and a half rolls in a vehicle, surpassing the previous record set during the filming of 2006's "Casino Royale." "The cannon roll is a stunt as old as cinema itself, requiring a car to be fitted with a cannon-like device that, upon activation, propels the vehicle into a series of rolls," Universal Pictures explained.

Holladay's achievement on the Australian shores, where "The Fall Guy" was filmed in 2022, has been celebrated as a testament to the skill and bravery of stunt performers. Holladay, who has contributed his talents to numerous projects including "Logan," "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw," and "Nope," shared his determination to be part of "The Fall Guy" upon learning of its production.

His successful record attempt came after just two practice runs, embodying the precision and risk involved in stunt work.

Honoring Cinema's Daredevils

In "The Fall Guy," Gosling portrays stunt expert Colt Seavers, with Blunt as Jody Moreno, the director reluctantly employing him.

The film not only spotlights the action but also features a cast of characters integral to the stunt-making process, including Hannah Waddingham, Winston Duke, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Stephanie Hsu. David Leitch, the director, views stunt performers as the unsung heroes of cinema, aiming to bring their stories and contributions to the forefront with this film.

At the recent 96th Oscars ceremony, Gosling and Blunt paid tribute to these pivotal figures in filmmaking, underscoring their indispensable role in the industry's history and present. "The Fall Guy" stands as a thrilling tribute to the courage and ingenuity of stunt performers, capturing the audience's imagination with its record-breaking feats and action-packed narrative.
