Elon Musk's social media venture, formerly known as Twitter, has abruptly terminated its partnership with ex-CNN anchor Don Lemon, signaling a premature end to their collaboration. The decision was announced Wednesday via a post on the platform, shortly after Don Lemon's interview with Elon Musk.

The interview, originally slated for the debut episode of "The Don Lemon Show" on Elon Musk's platform on March 18, now stands canceled following the dissolution of their commercial ties. X had previously disclosed in January its plan to feature Lemon's "unique and honest voice" in three weekly episodes.

This move was part of a broader initiative that also included shows by former U.S. congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and former ESPN star Jim Rome.

Elon Musk Questions Lemon; X Stands Firm

However, Elon Musk expressed dissatisfaction with Lemon's approach, criticizing it as reminiscent of traditional CNN-style content adapted for social media.

In response, X emphasized its commitment to providing a censorship-free platform, stating that Lemon is still welcome to publish content on the platform to engage with audiences and foster communities. Lemon, addressing the issue in a video on his own X account, expressed disappointment at Elon Musk's reaction, highlighting the importance of open dialogue and exchange of ideas, even in moments of tension.

The former CNN anchor's departure from the network in 2023, after a tenure spanning 17 years, followed controversy surrounding on-air remarks about then-Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley. Lemon's departure occurred just over two months after he publicly apologized for the comments made during his brief stint as a morning show host.

The fallout between Don Lemon and Elon Musk underscores the complexities of navigating free speech and differing perspectives in the digital age, as platforms grapple with balancing openness with accountability and constructive discourse.
