Seven years following a series of s----- misconduct allegations that significantly derailed his career, Kevin Spacey is making strides towards a comeback, this time stepping onto the Italian film scene. The acclaimed actor, known for his dual Oscar-winning performances, is set to embody The Devil in "The Contract," a project that aligns him with Italian director Massimiliano Caroletti and his wife, Eva Henger, a figure previously known in the adult film industry.

As reported by Cinecittà News, the official broadcaster for Rome's iconic Cinecittà Studios, "The Contract" has recently completed filming in Rome under the guidance of director Massimo Paolucci, known for his work on "All in One Day." The film's production is a collaborative effort between Tm Entertainment and producer Sandro Lazzerini.

The thriller emerges from a concept by Caroletti and is brought to life through a screenplay penned by Henger.

Spacey's Comeback Trail

Since the onset of the #MeToo movement, Spacey had maintained a low profile, but his recent ventures mark a significant return to the limelight.

Notably, his participation in the indie thriller "Peter Five Eight" and his appearance at the Mad Monster comic book convention in Concord, North Carolina, in February highlight his gradual re-entry into public attention.

In a notable development in July 2023, Spacey was acquitted of nine s----- assault charges in a U.K. court. Additionally, he reached an agreement with MRC, the production company behind "House of Cards," to reduce a $31 million judgment for alleged on-set misconduct to $1 million, as per court filings.

While details surrounding "The Contract" remain closely guarded, Cinecittà News has hinted at the film's inspiration from iconic supernatural thrillers like Alan Parker's "Angel Heart" (1987) and Taylor Hackford's "The Devil's Advocate" (1987).

Spacey's co-stars in this intriguing venture include Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano, promising a compelling ensemble cast. This project not only signifies Spacey's continued efforts to rehabilitate his career but also underscores the cinematic cross-pollination between American talent and Italian filmmaking prowess, setting the stage for a highly anticipated release.
