According to a recently published People magazine interview, Jimmy Kimmel, who is all set to host the 91st Academy Awards on March 10 for the fourth time in his career, shared an interesting tidbit about a "hot" Oscars night ritual celebrities have: indulging in some cheeseburgers at In-N-Out Burger.

The Los Angeles icon of fast food has come to be a routine after-party venue for the stars. Kimmel shed some light on reasons why In-N-Out has become the unofficial destination at the conclusion of Oscars night. "It's on everyone’s LA bucket list, especially if people are flying in just for the Oscars," he said.

The crowd seems to be driven towards In-N-Out by a combination of the timing of the event and the hunger of the attendees. Kimmel humorously reiterated, "Nothing against McDonald’s, but on Oscars night, In-N-Out is the tradition." And so, in keeping with that tradition, consider the scene earlier this morning at In-N-Out in Westwood, where Paul Giamatti, hours removed from his Golden Globe victory as best actor in a musical or comedy for "The Holdovers," was holding court with a table full of friends and a representative from UTA and his personal manager while huddled over burgers, fries, and soda.

His trophy was prominently displayed on the table.

Oscars Night Tradition

Since it originally opened in Baldwin Park in 1948, In-N-Out Burger has grown to become something of an iconic California institution. Its connection with the most glamorous night in Hollywood was even jokingly name-dropped in a recent promo for the show.

In that clip, Best Supporting Actor nominee Ryan Gosling talks about getting an In-N-Out burger before the Oscars telecast, prompting host Jimmy Kimmel to inform him that, actually, the post-Oscar "trend" is picking one up after the show in the event that he's carrying a new piece of hardware.

That will, however, show behind the scenes of Oscars night in Los Angeles glamor linking stars with down-to-earth traditions being revitalized. When the 2024 edition of the Oscars is upcoming, nominations, and fans of this spectacle can only yearn to have a slice of this intrinsically L.A. tradition held up close.
