Renowned for his unbridled enthusiasm for Ohio State, Richard Lewis, the beloved actor and comedian from "Curb Your Enthusiasm," carried his Buckeye spirit proudly until his passing. A 1969 Ohio State University alumnus with a degree in advertising, Lewis’s support for his alma mater was not just a facet of his public persona but a heartfelt commitment that he demonstrated time and again.

His sudden demise at 76 due to a heart attack has left fans and fellow Buckeyes mourning the loss of a true Ohio State stalwart.

Lewis's engagement with Ohio State football was fervent and public, showcasing his allegiance on social media platforms with the same vigor he brought to his comedic endeavors.

Notably, before Ohio State's clash with Maryland in 2022, Lewis took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to rally support for the Buckeyes. In a playful jab at his "Curb Your Enthusiasm" co-star Larry David, a Maryland alumnus, Lewis tweeted, "Let's destroy Larry's alma mater," highlighting the friendly rivalry.

Lewis's Unwavering Support

The 2023 football season saw Lewis continuing to champion the Ohio State Buckeyes with zeal.

Celebrating victories and notable moments, he shared his congratulations and support through posts that resonated with fans and followers alike. After a particularly significant win over Penn State, Lewis, recognizing the importance of each game, expressed his anticipation for the next challenge, showcasing his ever-present hope for Ohio State's triumph.

Despite the Buckeyes' loss to Michigan on November 25, Lewis's spirit remained unbroken. He posted a photo mimicking "The Scream" by Edvard Munch, a testament to his enduring passion and sense of humor even in defeat.

Since the inception of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in 2000, Lewis portrayed a fictionalized version of himself, endearing himself to audiences with his neurotic charm and wit.

His passing marks the end of an era for both the entertainment world and the Ohio State community, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and unwavering team spirit. Lewis's dedication to Ohio State football, mirrored in his prolific career, serves as a lasting tribute to his life and passions.
