Taylor Swift's father, Scott Swift, is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a photographer in Sydney, Australia. The incident, which reportedly took place early Tuesday morning, has sparked controversy and drawn significant media attention.

According to statements from the New South Wales police department to Page Six, the altercation involved Scott Swift and Ben McDonald, a 51-year-old Australian photographer. The confrontation allegedly occurred at a ferry wharf in Sydney, leading authorities to launch a formal investigation into the matter.

Fox News Digital received a statement from a spokesperson for Taylor Swift, shedding light on the circumstances leading up to the alleged incident. The spokesperson described a tense scene where "two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water." This account suggests a chaotic situation that escalated quickly.

Page Six further detailed that the supposed assault happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, noting that McDonald did not seek medical attention following the encounter.

Swift Altercation Unfolds

McDonald shared his perspective with the Daily Mail, alleging that Scott Swift "charged" at him after the singer and her father disembarked from their yacht.

He recounted, "She got off the boat, she walked towards security guards who were shoving umbrellas in our faces, and then he charged." According to McDonald, the impact left him with "very sore chops," though he insists he did nothing to provoke such a response.

Reflecting on the incident, McDonald speculated that Scott Swift might have felt compelled to protect his daughter, despite no apparent provocation. "He probably decided he needed to defend his daughter, for some reason," McDonald remarked, highlighting his shock over the altercation given his long career in photography.

Scott Swift is known for his presence at Taylor Swift's performances, particularly during her Eras Tour. An interesting footnote to this story involves a sweet moment during Taylor's concert in Argentina, where she altered the lyrics of her song "Karma" to nod to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

This lyric change became a topic of conversation on Travis and Jason Kelce's podcast, "New Heights," showcasing the close relationship between Taylor, her family, and her beau.
