After suffering life-altering injuries to two young sisters, Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce has come forward with a heartwarming act of generosity in helping them. Kelce, who has been praised for his on-field gifts and off-field philanthropy, gave away $100,000 to support the Reyes family in their recovery of their daughters, ages 8 and 10, who got caught up as innocent victims in a shooting during the celebrations.

But it does reflect a very deep empathy that Kelce holds, particularly for children. "Travis has always had a deep empathy for kids and was moved to make sure the family was able to have the support necessary to help them through this difficult time," a close source shared.

It's not the first time Kelce's shown his commitment to kids' well-being, either. His charitable foundation, 87 and Running, regularly partners with local children's initiatives like Operation Breakthrough to further STEM-centric programs for kids.

A GoFundMe page had been set up for the Reyes family, with a goal of $100,000, to help pay for the family's medical and recovery costs. With Kelce's contribution, this target has already been surpassed and that will help to greatly boost the Reyes family's fundraising efforts.

The site clearly mentions that the donation would be applied for young girls to recover physically and psychologically, or whatever was left would have to go into their college funds. Even Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, paid a touching visit to the girls in the hospital at Children’s Mercy.

That had to have been, at least, some source of joy to fight through the healing from their injuries and the long road to recovery they had ahead.

Taylor Swift's Compassionate Donation

In the midst of this show of support, the community was further uplifted with pop superstar Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of Kelce, chipping in.

Swift donated $100,000 to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who lost her life in the same incident. Her message of sympathy and condolence echoed the sentiments of a community shaken by this unforeseen tragedy. The shooting, which had just happened after the celebration of the victory by the Chiefs at the Super Bowl, left the city in shock.

Patrick Mahomes would later come out to announce the establishment of the #KCStrong crisis response fund to take care of victims, prevent violence, assist with mental health, and take care of first responders. The Kansas City Chiefs also released a statement in their own way, noting the extent of how saddened they were by the incident, taking into account ensuring the safety of everyone within the organization and their families.

Kelce's words truly caught at this very moment: "I'm absolutely devastated by the tragic event that took place. My heart is with you all that have been affected. KC, you truly mean everything to me."
