Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce posed for a long-awaited victory celebration and a celebrity comrade as he rubbed shoulders with the global music icon Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl 2024 afterparty. The event, held at the glitzy Zouk club in Resorts World, Las Vegas, proved a perfect setting for a chance musical encounter between the two stars in the immediate aftermath of the Chiefs' thrilling win over the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 at the newly refurbished Allegiant Stadium.
The special performance was during the victory party after the Chiefs had captured their second Lombardi Trophy in a row. For their recognition to the winning team as well as to Swift being among the night's guests, headliners at the DJ booth, The Chainsmokers, played Swift's 2008 classic hit "You Belong With Me.
In a fun twist, Kelce changed the iconic chorus of the song to "Are you in love with me?" while dancing to the thumping beats of the club remix, rather than the original "You belong with me." The lighthearted exchange, recorded in a TikTok video, depicted Kelce mingling in the DJ booth and eventually exchanging a hug with Drew Taggart.
Taggart: Tribute Triumph
Drew Taggart, one half of the Chainsmokers, said he was "scared" to play the song at the start but he said the decision turned out to be a "magical" moment. The DJ duo supposedly reorganized their setlist in order to include the tribute song, a decision they said was "worth it".
Though Swift wasn't in the DJ booth for this particular song, in another TikTok video shared by Keleigh Teller, it caught a different look. It showed Swift's reaction to the performance, with her pointing at Kelce during the chorus and raising her glass in unison at the moment.
Earlier, the couple had shared an intimate moment even on the field as they celebrated the victory of the Chiefs. Swift and Kelce were caught kissing and embracing each other, a move that can be termed as a show of the electric environment following the win of the team. When asked about the experience, Swift described it as "unbelievable" and "the craziest thing I've ever experienced.
