Hollywood star Ryan Gosling, known for his captivating performances, recently opened up about the creative influences that shaped his portrayal of Ken in last year's cinematic sensation, 'Barbie' In an exclusive interview with Variety, Gosling delved into the eclectic mix of inspirations that brought his character to life on the big screen.

Drawing from the vibrant era of the '80s, Gosling cited iconic actor Sylvester Stallone as a significant influence. The choice of incorporating minks into Ken's wardrobe, a distinct style statement in the film directed by the acclaimed Greta Gerwig, was a nod to Stallone's penchant for the luxurious fur.

"We found out that Stallone wore a lot of minks," Gosling shared, explaining how this sartorial choice helped distinguish his Ken from the others. But the inspiration didn't stop there. Gosling also drew parallels between his role and the contestants of the popular reality dating show, 'The Bachelorette'

He observed that each contestant, much like the various Kens in the world of 'Barbie', has a unique identifier - be it glasses or a singular earring. For Gosling's Ken, it was the mink that set him apart, a symbol of his identity within the competitive environment.

The actor, renowned for his roles in 'The Notebook' and 'La La Land', also commented on the similarities between the dynamics of 'The Bachelorette' contestants and the Kens of Barbieland, noting the idle anticipation for acknowledgment from the central female figure.

Gosling's innovative approach to his role garnered widespread acclaim, leading to an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor last month. However, he expressed disappointment over the Oscar snubs for 'Barbie' director Greta Gerwig and co-star Margot Robbie, who played the titular character.

Emphasizing the collaborative essence of the film, Gosling remarked, "There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie." This blend of '80s flair, reality TV dynamics, and Gosling's unique interpretation of the iconic character has undoubtedly contributed to the film's success, cementing its status as a modern blockbuster with a nostalgic twist.

As 'Barbie' continues to captivate audiences, Gosling's insights offer a deeper appreciation of the artistry behind this beloved cinematic venture.
