Prince Harry's recent appearance at the prestigious Living Legends of Aviation event in Hollywood has sparked controversy among royal observers and commentators. The Duke, known for his service as an Apache helicopter pilot, was honored with a medal at this star-studded ceremony.

However, his speech—or rather, what was missing from it—has become the center of debate. Royal biographer Angela Levin criticized Harry for not mentioning his father, King Charles, and sister-in-law, Princess Kate, both of whom are currently facing health challenges.

King Charles is preparing for a prostate operation, while Princess Kate is recovering from surgery. Levin described Harry's omission as "horrible and disrespectful," suggesting it was a deliberate snub to assert his independence and success.

Phil Dampier, a respected royal expert, echoed these sentiments. He pointed out that while Harry might have extended his good wishes in private, the public platform provided an ideal opportunity to publicly express his support for his family members.

This failure to acknowledge their health issues in his speech has been interpreted by Dampier and others as a sign of the widening rift within the royal family.

Harry's Award Controversy

Harry, who entered the Beverly Hilton Hotel event through a rear entrance, was in good spirits as he received his award from Hollywood icon John Travolta.

The Prince humorously referenced Travolta's famous dance with his mother, Princess Diana, in 1985, and engaged in light-hearted banter with the star. The decision to honor Prince Harry, however, has not been without its detractors.

Retired Colonel Richard Kemp, a former British Army officer, criticized the ceremony as a gathering of celebrities focused on self-congratulation. He argued that there are many in the British and American Armed Forces more deserving of such recognition, implying that Harry's royal status played a significant role in his selection for the award.

The Duke's remarks at the event, where he described flying as a "transcendent experience" and one of life's greatest lessons, have been overshadowed by the ongoing discussion about his relationship with the royal family.

This latest development adds another layer to the narrative of an increasingly strained dynamic within Britain's most famous family.
