In a recent revelation, Kayti Edwards, the former girlfriend of renowned actor Matthew Perry, disclosed unsettling details about the extent of his struggles with drug addiction. Edwards, 47, who briefly dated the "Friends" star in 2006 and later served as his assistant in 2011, shared her insights into the turbulent period of Perry's life, marked by a prolonged battle against substance abuse.

Matthew Perry, beloved for his portrayal of Chandler Bing on the hit 90s sitcom "Friends," tragically passed away on October 28 at 54. The news of his untimely death sent shockwaves through his fan base and left his family in deep mourning.

Perry was found deceased in a very warm tub at his residence. The autopsy report, released last Friday, concluded that his death was accidental, resulting from the "acute effects" of ketamine, an anesthetic administered as part of his depression treatment.

Tragic Addiction Struggles

The medical examiner highlighted that drowning, coronary artery disease, and the impact of buprenorphine were contributing factors in Perry's demise. The report emphasized the lethal consequences of elevated ketamine levels in his system, leading to cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression.

Edwards, in her interview with The Sun US, expressed that she was not surprised to learn about the role drugs played in Perry's death. Having witnessed the harrowing effects of addiction on Perry's life, she recounted one particularly distressing incident.

"I found Matthew on the couch with his hands superglued to his legs - it was desperately sad," Edwards recalled. She described the harrowing process of using nail polish remover and olive oil to detach his hands, resulting in painful, raw patches on his legs.

This poignant account serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of addiction, underscoring the lengths to which Perry went in his struggle to overcome his dependency. His tragic demise not only highlights the perils of substance abuse but also casts a shadow on the often-overlooked mental health challenges faced by individuals in the limelight.

Perry's story, as narrated by Edwards, offers a glimpse into the complex and often hidden battles waged by those in the public eye.
