"It really pushed me into the next chapter of my career. And for that, thank you so much Matthew, thinking about you a lot today." In addition to honoring Perry, Efron also paid homage to Kenny Ortega, the director behind "High School Musical." This 2006 film was a seminal work in Efron's early career, setting the stage for his subsequent success in Hollywood.
