Celebrity icon Paris Hilton, known for her multifaceted entrepreneurial ventures and star-studded lifestyle, recently celebrated the arrival of her second child, a daughter named London, with husband Carter Reum. This joyous news follows the birth of their son, Phoenix, earlier in January.

Hilton's choice to embrace surrogacy for both pregnancies stems from a deeply personal struggle, as she revealed in a candid interview with Romper, a publication centered on motherhood. The decision for surrogacy was heavily influenced by Hilton's traumatic experiences during her teenage years at Provo Canyon School in Utah, a facility for troubled youth.

Hilton recounted the severe PTSD she endures from those times, which becomes particularly acute in medical settings. She described how doctor's appointments could trigger panic attacks so intense that breathing becomes a struggle.

For Hilton, the idea of pregnancy, intertwined with these anxiety-inducing experiences, was an insurmountable hurdle. She expressed concerns that her high anxiety could adversely affect the health of her unborn child.

Harrowing School Ordeal

In 2020, Hilton shared her harrowing experiences at Provo Canyon School in an interview with People Magazine.

She detailed instances of physical, and emotional abuse, including forced and invasive gynecological examinations. This trauma, she admitted, has left her with a profound fear of pregnancy, ranking it alongside death as her greatest fears, as revealed in an interview with Glamour UK.

Alongside these personal challenges, Hilton's bustling professional life also played a role in her decision for surrogacy. As a business mogul, she oversees an empire that includes Hilton Hotels, the media company 11:11, her podcast, a reality show, a kitchenware line, and even ventures into music production.

Managing these commitments alongside the physical and emotional demands of pregnancy seemed an impractical feat. Despite her busy schedule, Hilton did not take maternity leave following the births of Phoenix and London, showcasing her dedication to her professional and personal responsibilities.

As she embraces motherhood with open arms, considering the possibility of a third child, Hilton finds a sense of fulfillment and completeness in her life, a testament to her resilience and strength in the face of adversity.
