In the wake of a devastating mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, renowned actor Patrick Dempsey has stepped forward to share his deep condolences and support for his beleaguered hometown. Dempsey, 57, famed for his role in the hit TV series "Grey's Anatomy," took to Instagram on Thursday to voice his heartbreak and extend his solidarity to the victims and their families.

Expressing his disbelief and sorrow, Dempsey stated, "I am shocked, and deeply saddened by last night’s tragedy in my hometown, Lewiston, Maine." His poignant message quickly resonated with his followers, amassing over 100,000 likes in a short span.

Dempsey Highlights Maine's Resilience

In his moving post, Dempsey underscored the resilience and communal spirit of Maine, urging the community to rally together in these trying times. "Maine’s great strength is its sense of community, and now we are being asked to come together to support everyone that has been devastated by this senseless act," he emphasized.

The tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday, leaving 31 people caught in the crossfire of a mass shooting that spanned two separate locations: the Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley and Schemengees Bar and Grille, located roughly four miles apart.

The violence claimed the lives of at least 18 individuals, while 13 others sustained injuries. Law enforcement agencies are fervently pursuing Robert Card, the identified suspect deemed "armed and dangerous," in a widespread manhunt.

Dempsey's connection to Lewiston goes beyond his roots; he founded the Dempsey Center in 2008 in honor of his late mother, who battled ovarian cancer since 1997. The center stands as a beacon of hope, providing cost-free, personalized cancer care and support.
