Scarlett Johansson, famed for her roles in the Marvel cinematic universe, recently graced the red carpet of The Albies – an esteemed ceremony orchestrated by George and Amal Clooney. The event, held at The New York Public Library, marked its second year of honoring the brave souls who've dedicated their lives to the defense of justice.

The Black Widow actress was elegantly dressed in a sharp black double-breasted suit, which she complemented with matching black accessories, shimmering silver earrings, and a chic slicked-back hairstyle. Established in 2016, the Clooney Foundation for Justice launched The Albies as an initiative to spotlight those who've risked it all in their pursuit of justice.

It's named in tribute to Albie Sachs, the pioneering South African justice.

Johansson Solo; Jost Absent

Interestingly, Scarlett attended the event solo, as her husband, the humorous Colin Jost from Saturday Night Live, wasn't by her side.

This power couple had previously been the talk of the town during their Cannes Film Festival appearance, promoting Johansson's recent movie, "Asteroid City". They've also been spotted at other prominent events, like Chris Evans' wedding to Alba Baptista in Boston.

Marriage seems to suit Johansson, who tied the knot with Jost in a private ceremony in October 2020, post their engagement in May 2019. This power couple is blessed with a son named Cosmo. Johansson also has a daughter, Rose, from her previous marriage to Romain Dauriac, and was once married to actor Ryan Reynolds.

When discussing her career and motherhood with PEOPLE in 10's Makho Ndlovu, Scarlett candidly appreciated Jost's unwavering support. She reminisced about how he would often be present during late nights, helping to care for their newborn.

Up next, Johansson is slated to feature in "North Star", a project directed by the talented Kristin Scott Thomas. Last year's Albies ceremony saw the likes of celebrities such as Dua Lipa, John Oliver, Julia Roberts, and Bruce Springsteen in attendance.

This year's event was memorable too. Five awards were bestowed upon global activists and organizations dedicated to sectors like medicine, law, and journalism. Some of the noteworthy awardees include Dr. Denis Mukwege, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award, and journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi, who were recognized with the Justice for Women Award.

Furthering its mission, the Clooney Foundation's endeavors encompass providing free legal aid to victims of human rights violations, emphasizing safeguarding women, journalists, democracy defenders, and minority groups.
