Priscilla Presley has candidly shared the poignant details of her final moments with her beloved daughter, the late Lisa Marie Presley. The singer-songwriter, renowned as the offspring of Elvis and Priscilla, tragically passed away on January 12 at the age of 54, initially attributed to a cardiac arrest.
However, a recent coroner's report unveiled that the true cause was a "sequelae of a small bowel obstruction". In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Priscilla, who bravely announced her daughter's passing on January 13, recounted her premonition that something was amiss in the days leading up to the heart-wrenching event.
Joyful Golden Globes Memory and Unexpected Twist
Reflecting on their close bond, Priscilla recounted a cherished memory from January 10 when mother and daughter attended the Chateau Marmont in LA to celebrate Austin Butler's triumphant win of Best Actor at the 2023 Golden Globes for his portrayal of Elvis.
Priscilla, donning high heels, stumbled slightly while descending a staircase, evoking infectious laughter from Lisa Marie. "We hadn’t even had a drink yet," Priscilla fondly remembered, "and [Lisa Marie] goes, ‘Oh my God, Mom, you can’t even have a drink'
It was fun, a fun memory." However, the jovial moment swiftly took a somber turn as Lisa Marie began to experience intense abdominal pain shortly after they ordered drinks. Concerned, they promptly left the venue. The gravity of the situation escalated two days later when Lisa Marie's former husband, Danny Keough, informed Priscilla that their daughter had been hospitalized.
Priscilla rushed to her side, but tragically, Lisa Marie had already passed away. Priscilla's grief was palpable as she shared, "I still can't believe it. I don’t wish this on any mother." Describing Lisa Marie as "the most passionate, strong, and loving woman" she had ever known, Priscilla's deep bond with her daughter remained evident even in the face of the legal challenges that arose after Lisa Marie's passing.
Priscilla questioned the validity of Lisa Marie's will, which had bestowed her with the entirety of Elvis' estate after his demise. The dispute has now been resolved, with Lisa Marie's daughter, Riley Keough, taking over as the sole trustee of the estate, and Priscilla receiving an undisclosed settlement to withdraw her legal concerns.
Lisa Marie's passing not only unveiled the depths of a mother's love but also brought to light the intricate dynamics of a family managing both their emotional ties and significant business interests. As Riley Keough wisely stated, "We are a family, but there's also a huge business side of our family…there was clarity that needed to be had."
