The bond between on-screen mother and daughter Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan extends well beyond the realm of cinema. Curtis recently took to Instagram to commemorate a milestone in Lohan's life - the birth of her first child.
The heartwarming Instagram post shared by Curtis on Monday contained a nostalgic image of herself and Lohan during their time together in the 2003 remake of "Freaky Friday". The two portrayed Anna and Tess Coleman, a teenage daughter and her mother who unintentionally swap bodies due to a fortune cookie's mysterious power, ahead of Tess's impending nuptials to Ryan, played by Mark Harmon.
The comedic roller-coaster of misunderstandings and mishaps eventually leads both characters to a deeper understanding and empathy for each other’s challenges.
Curtis Celebrates 'Movie Grandmother' Status
Curtis warmly captioned the Instagram photo, "Magic Monday!
My movie daughter just made me a movie grandmother. Blessings to Lindsay and Bader for the birth of Luai!" Clearly thrilled, Curtis embraces her new, albeit fictional, status as a grandmother, and extends her love and congratulations to Lohan and her financier husband, Bader Shammas.
Curtis and Lohan are also committed to a Disney-endorsed sequel to "Freaky Friday", a project that Curtis has enthusiastically championed for some time. However, due to the ongoing Hollywood writers' strike, the sequel's progress has been put on temporary hold.
Curtis spoke about the situation to EW, stating, "Stories require writers, and right now there are no writers because they're all fighting for their lives, for their creative lives, for their emotional lives, and for their financial lives." This sentiment was echoed in her earlier discussion with Allure where she humorously suggested that Lohan could "bring the baby" to the set while filming.
She also emphasized the importance of resolving the ongoing dispute, saying, "Until those writers get paid correctly and protected by the producers that make billions off of them, we will not be able to tell you any more about the Freaky Friday sequel, except that it is happening." Earlier that Monday, Lohan's publicist confirmed to EW that the actress and her husband had "welcomed a beautiful, healthy son named Luai," expressing that the family "is over the moon in love."
