In a recent turn of Hollywood home sales, actor Sylvester Stallone found himself on the negotiation table with the renowned singer, Adele. In a candid chat with The Wall Street Journal, the celebrated actor disclosed that the Grammy-winning singer was quite the formidable opponent when he decided to sell his Los Angeles mansion last year.
The Price of a Mansion, and a Rocky Statue
Despite agreeing to a sale price of $58 million - roughly equivalent to 103 million convertible marks - for the expansive property, one peculiar request from Adele took Stallone by surprise.
Along with the mansion’s eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, she insisted that the price should encompass an unexpected item - a statue of Rocky Balboa that graced Stallone’s yard. Stallone, who famously portrayed the fictional boxing champion in multiple films, originally intended to keep the poolside sculpture of Rocky mid-punch.
However, Adele's steely resolve soon made her intentions clear. "That’s a no deal. That’s gonna blow the whole deal," she asserted, making it obvious that she had her heart set on the iconic statue. "Heartily amused by the unusual stipulation, Stallone conceded, “She wanted the statue,” with a chuckle.
It seems the “Tulsa King” actor had no choice but to leave behind the symbol of his career-defining character.
A New Vision for an Old Home
Despite the initial discord over the Rocky statue, Stallone expressed appreciation for Adele’s plans for the estate. “I like what she’s doing,” Stallone shared with the Wall Street Journal, “she’s making it gorgeous”.
While the statue remains as the only untouched feature of the mansion, media reports suggest that Adele has decided to give the rest of her new home a complete makeover. However, far from feeling any nostalgia or resentment, Stallone voiced his admiration for the singer’s vision.
He expressed no qualms about the transformation, revealing an attitude as resilient as Rocky's, the very character that made him a household name.
