At 52, Shannen Doherty, the much-loved actress from the iconic TV series "Beverly Hills 90210", faces a challenging health ordeal. This January, she publicly disclosed her diagnosis of stage four breast cancer, which has metastasized to her brain.

This revelation, following a CT scan that detected brain metastases, has sent waves of concern through her immense fan base worldwide. In an emotional video documenting her journey, Doherty couldn't hold back tears as medical professionals fitted a mask over her face, an integral part of the radiation treatment process.

The actress, visibly apprehensive, was also seen biting down to ensure the mask adhered firmly to her mouth and chin.

Baring Her Fears: A Courageous Fight Against Cancer

In her heartfelt commentary, Doherty said, "January 12, the first round of radiation took place.

My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life." A candid Doherty also expressed her gratitude towards her healthcare team, "I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at Cedar Sinai." However, she didn't shy away from articulating the realities of living with cancer. "But that fear….

The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like," she admitted. It's a touching, humanizing confession that pulls back the curtain on the often unseen emotional challenges faced by those fighting the disease.

According to the Daily Mail, Doherty's cancer resurfaced in late 2020 and metastasized. Prognosis for patients diagnosed with both breast cancer and brain metastases is sobering, with survival rates slightly beyond two years.

This is not Doherty's first encounter with the dreaded disease. In 2015, she was initially diagnosed with breast cancer which rapidly spread to her lymph nodes. A valiant battle followed, during which she underwent a mastectomy, and endured rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. By 2017, she had beaten the odds and announced her cancer was in remission.
