Bill Gates acquired the quota on the same day on which Mexican Economic Future Sab sold part of his Heineken actions for 3.7 billion dollars. Femsa, as the Mexican bottling of Coca-Cola and minimarket operator is called, last week had announced her intention to download her participation in Heineken after a strategic review.
Heineken Holding controls the 50% of Heineken NV, producer of the homonymous beer, as well as the Amastel, Moretti and Sol brands, among others. The shares have a value of 902 million dollars, according to Bloomberg's calculations at the closing price of the shares of February 17th.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust Foundation has also invested in the Dutch online picnic supermarket and holds a participation of 1.34% in the Dutch manufacturer of Oci fertilizers. In total, Gates purchased 3.8% of Heineken Holding for 902 million dollars.
Microsoft's founder billionaire purchased 6.65 million Heineken Holding shares individual and another 4.18 million shares through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust.
