Cameron Diaz, the once highest-paid actress in Hollywood, is reportedly reconsidering her return to the silver screen after an eight-year hiatus. Her decision to step back into the limelight was initially confirmed last November when it was announced that she would star in the film "Back in Action." However, it appears that the taxing demands of filmmaking and the desire to be close to her family may prompt Diaz to revert to her retired status posthaste.

The Short-lived Return of a Hollywood Icon

The renowned actress retired from acting in 2018 after an illustrious career spanning 40 films. Her decision to return was influenced by her friend and fellow actor, Jamie Foxx, who convinced her to co-star in a new project.

However, a source intimately acquainted with Diaz disclosed that she is not expected to linger in the world of cinema after completing the project. The source explained that the grueling shooting schedule and the distance from her family have taken a toll on Diaz, particularly in regard to her three-year-old daughter, Raddix, and husband Benji Madden.

The Daily Mail reported that Foxx's on-set meltdown and back-to-back 10-hour workdays have exacerbated Diaz's struggle with being away from her family. A source close to Diaz stated, "Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world." Having spent nearly a decade with her family without interruption, it is understandable that the transition back to the film industry has been challenging for Diaz.

On-Set Challenges and the Allure of Motherhood

Despite having been absent from the screen since 2014, Diaz formally announced her retirement only in 2018, expressing no intention of returning to acting. However, when she signed on for "Back in Action" alongside Jamie Foxx, she told Jimmy Fallon: “I know.

Literally. I was like, 'Hey, guys, so what is the title of this?' And they're like, 'Back in Action.' I was like, 'Oh!' I'm really feeling very connected to this character already. I'm both (nervous and excited). You know, it's a little bit of muscle memory, you know what I mean? Sort of like, I did that for so long, it's kind of like the process, I kind of just fell back into it.

But, it kind of feels a bit different." Additionally, the aforementioned source revealed that Diaz dislikes the drama and conflicts that frequently erupt on film sets. However, the insider confirmed that this sentiment does not apply to her present involvement in "Back in Action." Rumors have been circulating about Jamie Foxx's on-set behavior, with allegations of outbursts and disputes with co-workers.

Foxx is said to have dismissed several individuals from the production, including the executive producer, two directors, and his driver. It is worth noting that since her retirement, the 50-year-old actress has successfully ventured into the world of business.

In 2020, Diaz and her business partner Katherine Powers launched the Avaline wine brand, further diversifying her already impressive repertoire.
