Boy George's mother Dinah O'Dowd dies aged 84

The mother of Boy George, Dinah, has passed away at the age of 84. There are many messages of condolences after her death, and one of the first to express his condolences is Boy George's longtime friend, DJ Fat Tony. "God bless you you amazing woman Dinah ....my heart goes out to @boygeorgeofficial and the entire O Dowd family what an incredible beautiful strong woman we will miss you x."- he wrote.

His mother had some health problems before, and it was especially critical two years ago. Dinah was hospitalized. She didn't stay long though, and things looked good. "My mum's good, she's back home now. She was in hospital for two days, luckily it was not corona-related so that's good.

And it wasn't what we initially thought, so everything about it was jut getting her home from the hospital, because obviously with everything that's going on, my mum's 82 so it's not the best place for her to be."- Boy George said then as quoted by ok.co.uk While she was in the hospital, Boy George asked his friends and fans to pray for his mother.

"My beautiful mum is in the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Woolwich. A problem with her heart or lungs. She's stable but they have said they won't resuscitate her if things go wrong? Apparently it won't work? How can they know.

Please pray!"

Dinah and support for her son

His mother was a great support for him, and it was clear how much she loved her son. "George and I are very close and I’m so very proud of him," she said in November. "He is always there for me, so his reaction wasn’t a surprise, and I am waiting to hug him when he gets home." During the conversation with Piers Morgan, Boy George spoke about his father, whom he loved, but...

"I used to tell my mum to leave my dad when I was like nine. I loved my father, don't get me wrong, I really loved him, but he wasn't a good dad and he wasn't a good husband."
