It was a sunny day six years ago when model Gessica Notaro's life changed forever. As she approached her home, her ex-boyfriend was waiting for her with a sinister plan in mind. In a brutal act of violence, he threw acid on her face, leaving her with severe burns and injuries.
The Acid Attack
Despite this devastating experience, Gessica refused to let it define her. She underwent multiple reconstructive surgeries and, just five months after the attack, she was back to work. Today, she continues to pursue her modeling career, participating in fashion shows and posing for magazines.
With over 412,000 followers on Instagram, Gessica is more popular than ever.
A Fight for Women's Rights
Gessica's attacker is currently being prosecuted by the court, but he denies any involvement in the crime.
Despite this, Gessica remains steadfast in her pursuit of justice. She is using her platform to raise awareness about the issue of violence against women and to fight for their rights. In a poignant statement back in 2017, Gessica said, "I want you to see what he did to me.
This isn’t love. While the acid ate away at my face I was on my knees praying. I prayed to God: take away my beauty but at least leave me with my sight." Tragically, the attack resulted in Gessica losing her sight in her left eye.
However, she has undergone several operations and continues to cover her injured eye as a symbol of her strength and resilience. Gessica met her former partner, bodyguard Jorge Edson Tavares, while they were working on a show with animals at an aquarium in her hometown of Rimini.
The couple had a relationship for three years before breaking up in August 2016. Gessica has publicly accused Tavares of being the person responsible for the attack. Gessica Notaro's story is a testament to the human spirit and its ability to overcome even the most devastating of challenges. Through her courage and determination, she has become a shining example of hope and inspiration to women everywhere.
