Katie Grand and her post
The sad news was confirmed by his wife, Katie Grand, as well. Despite his strong fighting spirit and determination, Steve, unfortunately, did not have the strength to fight the disease and lost the battle.
Katie did not forget to express her gratitude to those who fought for the recovery of her husband. “After three months in hospital, fighting with all his strength and determination, we are shocked and devastated to have said goodbye my brilliant, beautiful husband, Steve Mackey,” - she wrote in her post.
"Steve died today, a loss which has left myself, his son Marley, parents Kath and Paul, sister Michelle and many friends all heartbroken. Steve was the most talented man I knew, an exceptional musician, producer, photographer and filmmaker.
As in life, he was adored by everyone whose paths he crossed in the multiple creative disciplines he conquered. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the NHS staff who worked tirelessly for Steve. He will be missed beyond words." There are many messages of condolence all over the planet.
M.I.A is one of the first to express her condolences. “After making demos in my room, I was lucky enough to meet Steve Mackey. 2003/4, He was a great mentor and helped turn my lil songs into GALANG and SUNSHOWERS. Forever glad to have worked with you and thank you”.
