Former President Donald Trump's attendance at the funeral of one of his most ardent supporters, Diamond Hardaway, has been met with widespread condemnation after he delivered a bizarre and self-centered speech at the service.

The event, held in Fayetteville, North Carolina, was meant to honor the life of Diamond, a vlogger who, along with her sister Silk, gained fame for their vocal support of Trump during his presidency.

A Disrespectful Display

However, Trump's speech, which included criticisms of the funeral's length and a renewed assertion of his belief that the 2020 election was stolen from him, was seen as a disrespectful display that detracted from the solemn occasion.

In a video that has circulated on social media, Trump can be heard saying, "The world has lost one of its brightest stars, a real star. But I see that we have another star who is equal too, but she's stepped up and she is different."- referring to Diamond's sister Silk.

Trump continues: "I knew Diamond, but I didn’t know Silk at all. I just learned about Silk. You’re fantastic, you're going to carry on beyond anybody's wildest imagination." He went on to say the 2020 election was stolen from him.

"How do we stop the cheating? How do we stop it where you get more votes but you still don't win?" he asks the crowd, who are there to remember the life of Diamond. "The answer is: the Republicans have to get tougher, the top people have to get tougher and you have to really swamp them," he says, adding: "Once we're there we're going to straighten it all out and get it back to where it was."

A Disappointment to Many

Many who attended the funeral expressed their disappointment with Trump's behavior.

One attendee, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, "What a selfish, disrespectful thing to do at someone's funeral... I bet he offered to sign her guests' funeral programs as a finale." Trump's speech at the funeral of Diamond Hardaway has been widely criticized for its insensitivity and lack of tact.

His decision to use the occasion as a platform to air his political grievances was seen as a flagrant display of disregard for the mourning family and friends of the deceased.
