At the annual international Miss Universe pageant, which was held this year in New Orleans, the victory was won by R'Bonney Gabriel from the USA. R'Bonney Gabriel is a fashion designer, sewing teacher, and model, as well as the first Filipina-American to win the title of Miss USA.
“I would use it to be a transformational leader,” she responded, speaking of the Miss Universe organization. “It is so important to invest in others, invest in our community and use your unique talent to make a difference,” Gabriel continued.
“We all have something special, and when we plant those seeds to other people in our life, we transform them and we use that as a vehicle for change”. More than 80 contestants fought for the title of Miss Universe 2022.
The first runner-up was Amanda Dudamel from Venezuela, while the second runner-up was Andreína Martínez Founier from the Dominican Republic. Other finalists come from Puerto Rico and Curacao.
R'Bonney took the title from last year's winner, Harnaaz Sandhu of India.
The 71st edition of Miss Universe was held in New Orleans at the Ernest N.
Morial Convention Center, which hosted 84 contestants who represented their countries. It was held a few months later than usual, due to changes in the organization. For this year, one of the changes is that instead of the traditional 20, the jury chose 16 contestants for Saturday's ceremony.
A few favorites stood out from the start, parading in formal, traditional clothing and swimwear at the earlier event, which was broadcast on YouTube on Wednesday. During the presentation of the national costumes, the most attention was attracted to the girl from Ukraine, whose costume and message are now being commented on by numerous users of social networks.
Ukrainian Victoria Apasenko walked in a costume inspired by Archangel Michael, the warrior of light who defeats evil. She wore a white dress with a golden bodice, and on her wings, she wore the colors of Ukraine.
