Aphasia was diagnosed in the “Die Hard” star earlier this year, forcing him to retire from acting. Sylvester Stallone revealed the health condition of his colleague and friend Bruce Willis.
Sylvester Stallone gives update on Bruce Willis
“Bruce is going through some really, really difficult times.
So he’s been sort of incommunicado. That kills me. It’s so sad,” Sly told The Hollywood Reporter. At the beginning of this year, it was announced that Bruce suffers from aphasia, because of which he gave up acting.
Aphasia affects the ability to listen and speak. The most common cause of aphasia is a stroke, but it can also occur after a head injury, blow, etc. It still hasn't been released exactly what happened to Bruce. After the diagnosis, he almost completely withdrew from the public.
Only sometimes the paparazzi record him walking and going shopping with his wife. “We go back a long way, praying for the best for you and your wonderful family,” he wrote alongside several snaps of the pair. Heming, Moore, and their children Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah released a statement in March announcing Willis would retire due to health issues.
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” they wrote on Instagram.
“As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” they continued. “As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that”.
Larry Gordon, producer of Die Hard and its 1990 sequel also gave a statement. “I’m very saddened by this news. Bruce is a good friend and was fantastic to work with on Die Hard 1 and 2. They couldn’t be harder films for an actor to make and survive. He is the consummate pro and a gutsy guy”.
