2024 Lexus RX 450h+ Unveils 304-HP PHEV System

Slated for a release later this year at a starting price of $70,080, the fifth-generation Lexus RX has unveiled its latest iteration. Initially introduced to the world in May of the previous year, the Japanese automaker disclosed details about three of the four available powertrains for the luxury SUV.

Now, the 2024 model year is set to feature an eagerly awaited plug-in hybrid variant, establishing itself as the RX's second-most potent powertrain option. This RX 450h+ borrows its advanced plug-in hybrid system from its sibling, the hybrid NX.

A 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder gasoline engine is nestled beneath the hood, complemented by a pair of electric motors and a sturdy lithium-ion battery pack. This efficient synergy unleashes a maximum power of 304 horsepower (227 kilowatts).

With this, the electrified luxury SUV can surge from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in a mere estimated 6.2 seconds. While its peak speed is an electronically limited 124 mph, a single battery charge promises up to 35 miles of emission-free driving.

Advanced Charging & All-Wheel Drive

Standard equipment for the RX 450h+ includes a Level 1 charging cable tailored for 120-volt outlets. Given optimal conditions and making use of the 240-volt maximum charging current, the SUV's battery replenishes fully in approximately two and a half hours, thanks to its 6.6-kilowatt onboard charger.

Notably, the power from this advanced hybrid system is uniformly transmitted to each wheel, ensuring an all-wheel drive. Prospective buyers can choose from a palette of eight elegant exterior shades, ranging from Eminent White Pearl to Nightfall Mica.

The SUV proudly stands on standard 21-inch 20-spoke wheels. Inside, the cabin is adorned with luxury: four power-adjustable seats that offer both heating and ventilation, soft ambient lighting, a heated steering mechanism, a panoramic sunroof, and the pièce de résistance, a 21-speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system.

However, luxury does come at a price. In comparison to its 2023 counterpart, the RX 350h Luxury priced at $58,750, the 2024 RX 450h+ is notably more opulent, both in features and in cost.
