Toyota's GR86 TRUENO Special Edition Ignites Passion and Performance

Toyota's GR86 TRUENO Special Edition Ignites Passion and Performance

In the world of automotive, few names evoke as much nostalgia as the AE86. A beloved model that peaked four decades ago, the AE86 TRUENO GT-Apex Liftback was a signature model that fused performance with panache. Today, its spirit lives on in Toyota's newest tribute, the GR86 TRUENO Special Edition.

Far from a mere replica, this model not only honors the iconic AE86, but also introduces a host of enhancements.

Classic Meets Contemporary

Much like its predecessor, the GR86 TRUENO Special Edition stands out in the crowd.

It channels the AE86 with its characteristic "panda black and white" color scheme dubbed "Halo." For enthusiasts awaiting more color options, Toyota has revealed that a new hue named "Track bRed" will be joining the lineup soon.

The nostalgic charm doesn't end with the aesthetics. This new model also delivers a hefty dose of modern performance under the hood. It takes inspiration from the original AE86 but surpasses it with up-to-date technology and materials.

Engineered for Performance

What lies beneath the striking exterior of the GR86 TRUENO Special Edition is equally impressive. One of the key enhancements is the incorporation of ZF Sachs shock absorbers. These absorbers utilize a combination of nitrogen and oil to absorb vibrations, thus ensuring maximum contact with the road and facilitating firm and stable handling.

The car also sports a Brembo braking system, renowned for its impeccable performance. This includes four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers, with smooth, undrilled discs. The powertrain can be paired with either a manual or automatic transmission, offering drivers a tailored driving experience.

Accompanying the robust performance is an equally robust style. All TRUENO units feature an 18-inch set of 10-spoke alloy wheels, black door sills, and black side mirror housings. Despite the high-end upgrades, the GR86 TRUENO maintains the same 228 hp and 259 Nm of torque as the standard version.

Models equipped with manual gearboxes will also feature the GR86 Active Safety package, an array of auxiliary and safety systems. As of now, the GR86 TRUENO Special Edition is set to hit the market this winter, but Toyota has yet to disclose the pricing.

This reinvented icon promises a remarkable combination of nostalgia, performance, and style that will undoubtedly captivate the hearts of car enthusiasts worldwide.
