Featuring two electric motors powering 660 horsepower, four-wheel drive and an M-chassis, the BMW i7 M70 accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, has a top speed of 250 km/h, and has a range of 560 km. The BMW i7 M70 xDrive is the most powerful all-electric car to date from the BMW Group.
It is another milestone in the transformation of the BMW M division toward all-electric power with the BMW i7 M70 xDrive producing more power than any other BMW model. BMW i4 M50 is the third all-electric-driven car from the Bavarian company to be introduced during the year 2022 after the BMW iX M60 and BMW i4 M50, which were both the best-selling M-models in the world in 2022 and 2023.
M-Model: Auto Shanghai show premiere
An electric M-model had its world premiere at the Auto Shanghai show in China (April 18-27, 2023). The luxury sedan model is set to be produced at the Dingolfing plant of the BMW Group as well as other models within the luxury sedan segment.
Along with serving as the flagship factory for luxury models, the Lower Bavaria factory houses a facility specializing in electric drive systems, including a high-voltage battery factory which produces both electric motors and batteries for all BMW i7 variants.
In September 2023, BMW is scheduled to launch the BMW i7 M70 xDrive in a global market. Efficiencies and power outputs of BMW i7 are constantly being improved through the use of BMW eDrive technology, which is the fifth-generation technology used in the BMW i7.
There is a large amount of technology involved here, both in the powertrain and in the power electronics, but also in the technologies connected to high-voltage batteries and charging. With the BMW i7 M70 xDrive, the electric motor, power electronics, and transmission are all fully integrated into the same housing on both the front and rear axles of the vehicle, which allows the electric motor, power electronics, and transmission to be combined into one very compact unit.
There are high expectations from this car, considering that it has been announced for a long time, and that it has impressed everyone with its characteristics and advantages.
