Audi A4 (B8): What to expect

For buying a used Audi A4, the first and most important recommendation is to look for 'pet plus' bodywork. Audi's not just a more expensive Volkswagen. Ingolstadt's factory has slightly higher standards, so the A4's cockpit design easily beats Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3 Series.

It's the last generation of the B8, which was the market leader for seven years, with one slight redesign. . As soon as it hit our market, we tested it to see how convincing it was. As opposed to the C-Class from the early 2000s, the A4's sheet metal has never rusted, and the older models are generally in good shape.

There have been legendary problems with the front ball joints, but more so on the B6 and B7 series than on the newer ones (like the A6). Diesel 2.0 TDIs had problems with their injection (piezo injectors Siemens), and older ones had problems with their split-mass flywheels.

When it comes to maintenance, the Audi A4 is similar to the Volkswagen, and it's a high-quality and solid car.

Gearbox lock

If you're not buying from a reputable source, make sure you check everything when choosing. However, you'll want to install a mechanical gearbox lock after purchase (if it's not already).

Diesel models with manual transmissions are the cheapest. There's a different story with the new ones, but 4x4s, especially automatics with double clutches, aren't always recommended. Compared to the first generation of common-rail turbo diesels 2.0 TDI with Siemens injectors and split mass flywheels, the models from 2010 are generally trouble-free.

Because when it's their turn, the warranty expires, so many people 'forget' to change the oil and hydraulic fluids. Multitronic CVT gearboxes in gasoline cars should be avoided. It's in almost perfect shape, has covered 151,000 km, mostly on longer distances, and is regularly maintained.

There is no rule that dictates that people should get rid of their comfortable, safe, temperamental, and fuel-efficient vehicle just because it is "out of style," because that is certainly not the case. For used vehicles that are between 4 and 5 years old (the latest statistics are from 2017), the Audi A4 is on the 19th and 20th spot among 124 models manufactured between 2011 and 2013.

For cars manufactured between 2011 and 2013, which are particularly interesting to our customers because of their favorable price, the Audi A4 is placed on the 19th- 20th spot. with the Volvo XC60.
