A fractured hip suffered by Tao Geoghegan Hart after a crash on Stage 11 of the Giro d'Italia will require surgery, according to a statement from Ineos Grenadiers, the team behind Geoghegan Hart.
Considering the serious nature of the situation, Hart was taken by ambulance to a local hospital in Genoa immediately after everything had taken place.

There has been tremendous support for him from the Grenadiers who are well aware of how much he will be missed in the coming months. Right now, the most important thing is that Hart recovers as quickly as possible from his surgery.

“Immediately following his involvement in a crash during today’s Stage 11 of the Giro d’Italia, Tao Geoghegan Hart was transported to a local hospital in Genoa,” they wrote.
“After further assessment, imaging confirmed that Tao had sustained a fracture of the left hip which will require surgery.
