Barcelona made it official on Wednesday that Sergio Busquets will be leaving the Nou Camp at the end of this season, as has been reported for some time in the Spanish media. After the expiration of his contract with the club in July, the experienced midfielder has decided not to extend it and will start seeking new challenges in the near future.
Busquets is a child of this club and there are many beautiful moments and trophies behind him. Despite the fact that they were not in favor of him in the last couple of seasons, the fans of Barcelona are very aware of how much he has contributed to their club and are extremely grateful to him for everything he gave to the club.
However, it was clear that it was time to say goodbye.
Busquets' message
"I would like to thank all the people who made it possible for me to experience all this from the first to the last day. Club workers, physiotherapists, doctors, delegates, managers, presidents, coaches, professional staff, analysts and above all my teammates, with whom I shared thousands hours of jokes, conversations, training, matches, sadness, celebrations...
Everything. Thank you. I also want to thank the fans from all over, who gave me their support and love during all this time. And of course, my family, who are always was by my side in good times and bad," Busquets said in his message.
The end of Busquets' playing career at Barcelona does not imply the end of his career as a player. According to Catalan media reports, one of his agents is currently in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, where he is in the process of negotiating with three local clubs: Al Shabab, Al Nasr, which Cristiano Ronaldo also plays for, and Al Hilal.
In a perfect world, it would be interesting if Ronaldo and Busquets played for the same club, as long as the Portuguese stayed with them.
