In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, supermodel Gisele Bündchen talked about her divorce from NFL star Tom Brady, refuting the rumors that Brady's retirement from football was the reason for their split. She explained that their separation was not an isolated event but a result of their evolving relationship that took "years to happen." She expressed her support for Brady, saying that she has always cheered for him and would continue to do so.

Despite being frequently seen in football arenas rooting for Brady, Bündchen felt that the media portrayed her as being against football amid the divorce news.

Setting the Record Straight

"Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever," Bündchen shared.

"If there's one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it's him, believe me. I want him to achieve and to conquer." Despite having been frequently photographed in football arenas, rooting for Brady during games, Bündchen felt that the media portrayed her as being against football amidst the divorce news.

"Are you kidding me? I learned about it! I used to joke that I was going to be able to be the ref because I've watched so many games. And I loved it," she emphasized.

The Reality of Divorce

The supermodel added that their divorce is "one piece of a much bigger puzzle" and it isn't "so black and white." Bündchen explained that their relationship had evolved over time and that their separation was not an isolated event but rather something that took "years to happen." "We realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make.

That doesn't mean you don't love the person," she expressed. "It just means that in order for you to be authentic and truly live the life that you want to live, you have to have somebody who can meet you in the middle." The couple's decision to divorce does not mean that they no longer love each other, according to Bündchen. "We're not playing against each other...We are a team," she clarified.
