American former professional basketball player, Larry Joe Bird was born in West Baden Springs, Indiana, on December 7, 1956, and raised in nearby French Lick, where he started playing basketball at an early age. Larry received a scholarship at the Indiana University where he played for legendary coach Bob Knight.
