Early Life Of Giada De Laurentiis

Giada De Laurentiis was born on 22 August 1970, to Veronica De Laurentiis, an actress, and her father, Alex De Benedetti, an actor and producer, in Rome, Italy. Her maiden name is Giada Pamela De Benedetti.

She has three siblings; sister, Eloisa, a makeup artist, and two brothers Dino Alexander II, and Igor a Hollywood film editor who died of melanoma in 2003.

 

At the age of seven, Giada relocated to the United States and the settled in Los Angeles. In early years, she didn’t speak a single word of English, so the kids at school tormented her.

Laurentiis later found more comfort in her family and their passion for food. Her great-grandfather used to sell pasta in Italy, and every Sunday, the whole family gather at her grandfather’s house for lunch.

She often visited her grandfather’s restaurant, ‘DDL Foodshow,’ during those days.

Culinary Career

After moving to southern California, Gaida graduated from UCLA with degree anthropology. Eventually, she decided to follow her passion and went on to study at  Paris’ Le Cordon Bleu.

Later, she returned to Los Angeles and worked at two prestigious restaurants: Ritz Carlton Fine Dining Room and Wolfgang Puck’s Spago.

As a chef, Gaida De Laurentiis started her own catering company called GDL Foods and served for the famous celebs including director Ron Howard. On the other hand, she also worked as a food stylist.
