Carmelo Kyam Anthony was born on May 29, 1984, in Brooklyn, New York to Carmelo Iriarte and Mary. He was the youngest of the four children. At age two, he lost his father who died due to liver failure. He was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. His mother alone raised him and his three siblings.
After a few years, his family shifted to Baltimore where he grew up. His mother kept her all children on a short leash. As he developed his interest in basketball.
