Valentina Sampaio has been successful to make her name in Victoria Secret. She has become the first transgender model to work with Victoria Secret ever.
The model broke the wonderful news through her Instagram account on Friday, July 2 with a pic of her in a fluffy bathrobe.
In addition to that, the Brazillian actress expressed her excitement with a short caption: “Backstage click @vspink ????????,”. as well as the array of hashtags: “#bastidores #new #vspink #campaign #representatividade #diversity #beauty #selfie #model #life #fashion #usa #vstorm #valentinasampaio #bomdia.”
Sampaio agent, Erio Zanon confirmed to the CNN on Monday that the model had been hired by Victoria Secret for a campaign. After the post, the social media has flooded with tons of love reactors and congratulations comment from the fans as well as from many celebrities.
Especially, from the Victoria Secret Angel Lais Riberio, who posted “The first transgender to shoot with Vs! This makes me so happy ” on Twitter was among the highlights.
She also posted a video with an inspiring caption: “Never stop dreaming genteee ????????????”. Attached to it was a string of Hashtags #staytuned #bastidores#new #vspink#campaign #representatividade#diversity #beauty #selfie #life#fashion #usa #vstorm#valentinasampaio ????✌????.
Provided that, Sampaio was also the first transgender to appear on the Vogue cover of Vogue Paris. Consequently, the model made her appearance in Vogue Basil and Vogue Germany. Indeed, she is the first openly transgender to feature on both magazine’s covers.
Previously, the Chief Marketing Officer of Victoria Secret Ed Razek has expressed his disagreement in Vogue magazine after telling that the annual show shouldn’t feature “transsexual” as “the show is fantasy”.
“It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is,” he said. “It is the only one of its kind in the world, and any other fashion brand in the world would take it in a minute, including the competitors that are carping at us.”
After this incident, she got an offer to work with the company.
The term “transsexual is considered outdated and offensive to many in the LGBTQ community. Ultimately, he apologized for his remark on transgender models.
“My remark regarding the inclusion of transgender models in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show came across as insensitive. I apologize. To be clear, we absolutely would cast a transgender model for the show. We’ve had transgender models come to castings… And like many others, they didn’t make it…But it was never about gender. I admire and respect their journey to embrace who they really are.”
Also, the 71 years old, Razek has resigned his post from the greatest lingerie company.
Apart from Valerian Sampaio, Leyna Bloom has been trying her heads off to be the first transgender model on the lingerie company. In the same way, she had even started a twitter campaign in 2018 to be the first trans woman of color. But, unfortunately, she was not considered for it.
